Barossa Wedding Menu Checklist

The Ultimate Wedding Menu Checklist

All the elements of your wedding are important, the entertainment, the dress or suit, the venue. But we all know from being guests at weddings in the past, the food and drink is what we always remember and creates a platform of conversation and memories of your special day.

When meeting with a vendor whether you have chosen a venue that has catering included or you opted for your own catering, There are a few things you need to consider. Your menu will depend on the number of guests you invite, your budget and possibly the theme of your wedding, so factor in what you want your event to look like. Would you like a traditional sit-down dinner or lunch with two or three courses or prefer a more relaxed vibe with roaming food choices and cheese platters.

Timing of the food is also quite important, no one wants to be busy chewing dinner and attempting to listen to speeches or be on the dance floor and your food is at the table getting cold! Generally, your vendor will be open to helping you plan your seating times to avoid any of these scenarios happening, have a chat with them about what styles of food represent them and what they want to put on the plate, I am sure they will have plenty of ideas to show you.

The beauty of choosing the Barossa as your wedding location, most caterers will source local fresh and seasonal produce to use for your menu so take advantage of those flavours and choose options that your guests will leave raving about. Not to mention the wine matching or perhaps a cocktail or glass of bubbles but don’t forget to have some non-alcoholic options too.

Don’t forget to think about the allergies and dietary requirements of your guests –give them time to let you know if there is any serious one’s they need to avoid like a shellfish allergy, maybe the crab linguine isn’t the best dish for them! This is something you could add to your invitation or any correspondence you have with your guests leading up to the day.

If you are anything like me and have a sweet-tooth, desert is a very exciting time! Will your menu include a sweet finish and tea or coffee or will you provide a little take-home treat like a piece of the wedding cake, cupcakes or a selection of cheese.
