Barossa Valley Weddings – Plan your wedding with the best of the Barossa

About us

ABOUT US

Barossa Valley Weddings is owned and operated by Maggie Ryan – well known to many Barossan brides as Maggie from Miss Maggies Flowers.

After working in weddings and events for many years, Maggie conceived the idea for a regional wedding directory that would showcase the best of the region. Maggie will be be working with her good friend Tegan, and they have often joked that this is the perfect way for them to spend more time together!

Maggie and Tegan are best friends with a passion for the Barossa region. They often catch up over a glass of wine and a local cheese platter. The time feels right now to begin that journey with you all, so that all the wonderful suppliers Maggie has met over the last 16 years of her floristry career can be represented in the right manner, and to showcase all the fabulous suppliers and venues that the Barossa has to offer.

Barossa Valley Weddings has you covered for planning your special day, from the transport and accommodation to the venue and florals. The girls are extremely excited to share our beautiful region with you and know your wedding day will be a wonderful one if you choose the Barossa and all it has to offer for your special day.

Maggie began her wedding journey in the Barossa 16 years ago, when she opened a little flower store in Tanunda in the Barossa Museum building. Maggie would take the admission fees and talked to many tourists about the region and its history. She began taking wedding bookings and creating long term relationships with fellow suppliers in the industry. Her creative flair and attention to detail did not go unnoticed and was asked to manage the Wedding and Corporate functions for Chateau Tanunda and has done successfully for the last three and a half years. A challenge she thrives on and loves seeing her hard work come together in the form of a memorable wedding or event. She also has a side hustle she manages with her partner Daniel, Barossa Baskets. A local gourmet food produce hamper business which again shows her true passion for the region and all it has to offer.

Tegan has also grew up in the Barossa and met Maggie 17 years ago. She is the more level-headed of the duo, filled with valuable local knowledge, patience, an eye for detail and takes care of the suppliers and social media side of the business. Tegan has worked for many local cellar doors and managed the membership and customer relations with these companies. Her skillset is unbelievably valuable and second to none for the logistics of this venture. Tegan also keeps Maggie’s wild ideas at a realistic level so they can come to fruition in a practical way!

MAGGIE’S TOP 3 TIPS FOR YOUR BAROSSA VALLEY WEDDING

  1. Book your venue first, then the celebrant and then your transport. The other things will fall into place after, but your venue can only host one wedding a weekend, your celebrant can only do one wedding a day and the transport is usually only booked for one wedding too and books out fast!

2. Please pay a professional to make your cake! I have seen some shockers…. I have placed florals onto a cake before that a “friend made” and the flowers went straight in… it was raw!!! I also have chef friends that work so hard to make your wedding menu special and full of amazing local produce for your guests to enjoy. Then to have the guests get to dessert and the cake lets the whole experience down but being too dry or over iced… so please, please pay the money for a professional to bake your cake!!

3. Make sure you do the rehearsal within the week of the wedding. This ensures that it is fresh in everyone’s mind about how the ceremony will unfold. There is nothing worse than an awkward-looking bridesmaid not knowing when to start walking down the aisle to a certain part of the song, leaving you (the bride) rushing up the aisle before the song ends or hits the right part of the song for the video!

TEGAN’S TOP 3 TIPS FOR YOUR BAROSSA VALLEY WEDDING

1. Make sure you select your menu to reflect the venue’s wine list, or vice versa, I cannot express the importance of this! There is nothing worse than a sweet white being served with a heavy protein-based main!

2. If you are going to spray tan, please go and get a mock trial done a few months beforehand,  there is nothing worse than scrubbing your body raw or looking like an orange on your big day!

3. Book a celebrant that you feel comfortable with. There is no shame in cancelling a celebrant if you both do not feel comfortable having them officiate your special day. They should enhance your day and support you along the way. From the writing of your vows to the rehearsal, they are there to hold your hand…  just not on the day, you need to hold your partners!
